Colorful + Cool American Legion Wedding Day: Turning Iowa into a Destination Wedding

Yes, you read that correctly. Grace and Ben turned their wedding day into an IOWA destination wedding. Grace was born and raised in Iowa, while Ben is from Wisconsin. The two of them currently live in Colorado, and most of their friends are from all over the States. Grace and Ben met in the military, therefore a lot of their friends have the same background. With their field of work, they’ve done a lot of moving around and have roots in several state nowadays. They agreed that getting married in Iowa would be such a special way to bring their variety of friends + family together to celebrate. Voila, Iowa can be a destination wedding too! They leaned way into the cliche Iowa tropes by getting married in a tiny town, a little church, and at the local American Legion. I’ve photographed a couple American Legion weddings in my day, but Grace and Ben’s wedding was by far one of the coolest and most unique I’ve ever gotten to witness.
