Iowa Botanical Center Garden Party Wedding Day: Genevieve + Mitch

Genevieve + Mitch’s wedding day was the perfect example of a timeless + personal day. Their wedding color scheme was simply different shades of blue, lots of floral prints, and there was an emphasis on sentimental details. Some of those details included the lace on Genevieve’s dress which came from her mother’s wedding dress, Mitch’s cufflinks which were gifted from Genevieve, and G’s veil made by her mom. And obviously, G’s reception dress made entirely from her mom’s wedding dress. So so so dang fun!

If you’re looking to get that “garden party” feel but don’t know where to start (if you’re from the Midwest, Lord knows it’s hard to find anything besides barns, big white rooms, exposed brick, or county fairgrounds for your wedding day), try looking into your local botanical center. The Quad Cities Botanical Center was the perfect setting for their day — they even have a tent on site and a beautiful, lush arch to get hitched in front of.

Genevieve, when asked how her and Mitch met, got engaged, etc, said:

“Mitch and I met at work as nursing assistants while we were in nursing school. He got my number from a coworker to trade shifts, and then after a few break room lunches asked me to hang out outside of work. We hung out a few times before I knew whether he just wanted to be friends outside of work or if he wanted to date. Eventually I figured it out ;) We dated for 3 years and he proposed to me after showing me a montage of videos from friends and family saying nice birthday wishes to me, and surprised me by bringing our families to Chicago to celebrate the engagement with us.”

G + M’s day was easily my favorite type of day to be a part of. Documenting a day that is so sweetly about the couple is definitely where I feel most in my element, and it’s a day that feels so celebratory by everyone involved.
